There are very few restaurants in San Diego that I will actually eat in. My two favorite are Kung Food and Cilantro Live. I go to Kung food more often because they are much more convenient. They are closer to my house and they have a drive thru that is open late. They serve all vegan and organic food. They are certainly not fancy or cheap but they provide yummy foods that are healthy and convenient. With my stringent guidelines for what I am willing to eat, Kung Food is a perfect opportunity for me to take an occasional night off from cooking while still eating nutritious food.
This weekend I decided to take one of those occasional nights off from cooking and I went to Kung Food for dinner. When I arrived there I learned that they were closing and Kung Food would no longer exist. When the cashier told me this I was taken aback for a moment, I couldn't think clearly because I was so bummed out. I was thrilled when I first found Kung Food a little over a year ago and now they were shutting down. Humph. They assured me that they would be looking for another location to open another restaurant and I really hope they do.
Cilantro Live is thriving with 3 locations and one more on the way. They serve all raw, vegan recipes and do not even have an oven in their kitchen. Their new location is going to be in Hillcrest and I can't wait for it to open. Please check them out and go there for a meal http://cilantrolive.com/. We need to support the restaurants that serve organic food. I hope more restaurants will start doing it because I miss eating out.
