Nutritionists are unnecessary. As a nutritionist it is almost difficult for me to admit that, but when I realize how far we have to go in our collective quest to rediscover what we should be eating, I’m not that worried about job security moving forward. Everyday there are more studies and articles telling us about diet and food but what do they tell us? Nothing we do not already know.
Eat real food. Period.
You don’t need some scientist or hot body to tell you vegetables are good for you and fried food is not. The money that is wasted to support big food companies in their mission to alter, destroy, repackage, and then try and tell you it is healthy food is disgusting. Food companies make the cheapest possible product they can and hire marketing people and “nutritionists” who are either misinformed or unethical to say their garbage food is healthy.
The healthiest foods still have dirt on them. They require rinsing and little else prior to eating. Anything you do after rinsing your real food such as chopping, juicing, steaming, or baking is processing. That is what us health fanatics mean when we say eat minimally processed foods.
There aren’t many actual foods that come in a box. The nutrition scientists should be telling you this instead of telling you how many nanograms of antioxidants are in celery versus cauliflower. It really doesn’t matter! Celery and cauliflower both have dirt on them…they’re food. Eat them.
Of course it does get a little more involved than that based on who you are and your own individual needs but we are getting way off track with all of this nutrition science! It’s almost as if they want to try and “perfect” something that was already perfect before we started messing it up.
Just eat food that comes with dirt on it. When you eat meat choose meat that is humanely raised in as close to their natural environment as possible. Beyond that focus more on the actual eating of the food; at home, with people you love, made with your own creativity and joy.
Love what you eat and eat the stuff that loves you back! Forget about all of the science.
