Restaurants:
The Burger Lounge is a San Diego burger joint that only serves Tall Grass Beef. They also use organic
greens in their salads and offer an organic quinoa burger or turkey if you
don’t want one of their delicious beef burgers. The onion rings are incredible
so they can be forgiven for not being healthy; there are other healthier
options on their modest menu. There are four locations to choose from and if
you have not already been, it is high time you go!
Good On Ya Deli Good on Ya! is a deli
that my husband found near his work. Their coffee is organic, they specialize
in offering super food combinations and are open for breakfast and lunch. Three
locations to check out.
I don’t do
much eating out but one of the other places I feel comfortable going is Whole Foods. They normally have a
decent selection of items in their prepared foods area when I am feeling lazy
and don’t want to cook.
Cooking/Food:
I use All
Recipes to find
recipes almost everyday. The collection of recipes on this site is vast. Most
of the time I have to make some sort of adjustment to the original recipe to
make it comply with my standards but it is a great resource to find a base for
a recipe and then you can adjust from there.
I just discovered that you can purchase Tall Grass Beef directly from their website TallGrass Beef. I just placed my first order! This is actually healthy beef - really it is.
Gluten Free:
I have
recently discovered that I am sensitive to gluten which is a protein found in
wheat. If you have unexplained digestive symptoms or a rash you cannot explain
then it is possible you are sensitive to gluten too. I would suggest
eliminating it from your diet for about four weeks to see if your symptoms
improve. I am feeling so much better. Luckily, there are some brands that
specialize in providing gluten free foods to make it a little easier. My favorite brand so far is Pamela's, they've been helping people like me for 22 years and I like some of their recipes - with their baking mix, better than the recipe that would typically contain gluten. Another good brand is Glutino.
Bob's Red Mill also has some
good gluten free options and many other good products.
If you
have wanted to check out a local Farmer’s Market but are not sure where to find
one, Local Harvest can help you find one in your
vicinity, all across the country.
Dick just
bought This Oven for us to use while we are camping
and I love, love, love it! It’s perfect for anyone who does not have a full
size oven and even for people who do, to use during holidays when one oven is
just never enough or as an alternative to heating things up in a microwave. I hate microwaves as I may just be crazy but I believe
they damage the nutrients in your food even beyond what normal cooking does.
This oven uses a combination of convection and infared heating. It takes 30%
less time and uses 30% less energy and no need to defrost foods before
starting. It is large enough to cook a very large chicken and it does so in 40
minutes.
The Earth
Box is a great way
for people who do not have a yard but do have a patio to grow some of their own
veggies. I am able to plant way more in mine than I initially thought possible
and when I have it planted (I am afraid I don’t right now but I’m getting on it),
I can furnish all of the fresh greens we need for salads.
Green Star is one of a couple of companies
that makes good quality juicers. It is a masticating, rather than centrifugal
so it does not create any heat (heat kills the enzymes which is one of the main
reasons you would juice in the first place) and it extracts more juice.
